The Maltese Cross is recognized worldwide as the symbol of Fire Department. It’s a symbol of protection, a badge of honor and its story is hundreds of years old. Originally this was the symbol of the Knights of Malta, who helped Crusaders combat the fiery weapons of the Saracens and therefore were the world’s first firefighters. It was then adopted by heroic firemen ever after.
